Kialo Edu is a discussion platform designed for students and educators. Kialo Edu utilizes a visually structured argument map, allowing students to explore topics by building arguments (pros) and counterarguments (cons) for and against a central thesis. It helps students visualize and reflect on each step of an argument and by focusing on reason.
As students add pros and cons, their responses appear as a branching map of the discussion, allowing students to see how their ideas connect and how their arguments are logically developed or refuted.
Features include:
- Map discussions for deeper understanding: Kialo discussions are interactive maps for arguments. Discussions are developed from a central thesis, which are supported or weakened by pro and con claims.
- Visualize the links between points: Kialo lets users choose how to visualize the discussion. Users can select to view a tree of claims developing under the thesis, or as a “sunburst” of claims radiating outwards.
- Simultaneous contributions: Everyone can participate at once! See what your entire class has to say, and easily keep track of who has taken part.
- Recorded discussions: Kialo discussions are automatically saved. Because Kialo discussions are automatically saved, instructors and students may return for simple grading or review.
