Introduction to Canvas Basics
This course will guide you through how to use the Canvas learning management system. You can go through each module in order or you can jump around and only peruse the ones that interest you.
This is a self-paced course; you can move through it on your own time. Course modules will cover:
- Creating Course Content
- Navigating through Canvas
- Managing Assignments
- Using Gradebook and SpeedGrader
- Managing Course Settings, Rosters and Groups

Online Teaching Essential Series (Level 1 and Level 2 Courses)
Users will be equipped with the foundational skills and knowledge to begin creating inclusive, engaging, learner-centered online courses. This series is designed to provide users with a set of on-demand, bite-sized learning modules that are self-paced, and in any order, while working toward meaningful credentials that can be shared with colleagues and peers.
Level 1: Foundations: Earn digital badges to recognize your learning journey! A digital badge will be issued via Accredible after you successfully complete each of the three core courses. Digital badges can be shared with your personal and professional networks via LinkedIn or other social media.
Level 2: Proficiency: Once you have completed “Level 1: Foundations”, users can then move on to earn your Online Teaching Proficiency badge by completing each of the three courses in Level 2.
This series comprises four self-paced courses related to creating inclusive and accessible experiences for students, specifically regarding digital content. These courses are designed to support faculty, staff, or students in creating more accessible courses and documents. This series provides practical strategies and hands–on skills using Word, PowerPoint, PDFs, Canvas, and Kaltura. These skills will also help course participants create more accessible social media posts, websites, etc. Since the themes remain the same across platforms.

This video is intended for instructors who have a Canvas course shell set up and need to manage students, grade assignments, and administer the course. The video covers how to send messages, make announcements, grade, edit content and manage assignment settings, and how to manage student groups.
Adding and Editing Content in Canvas
This video focuses on adding and editing course content using the Rich Content Editor and the link/embed menu options.
This video covers how to use the Inbox, Announcements, and gradebook comments to communicate with students, student groups, and whole classes.
This session is intended for users comfortable with completing basic tasks in Canvas, who would like to examine specific course tools in more depth. This session focuses on the Quizzes tool and how to create quizzes, exams, and surveys.
