Rutgers.eduCanvas users should begin transitioning from ePortfolios (Legacy) and Folio (Legacy) to the new Canvas Portfolio tool before December 31. The new Portfolio solution offers enhanced organization, sharing, evidence collection, and export capabilities.
What You Need to Do
If you use ePortfolios (Legacy):
- Open ePortfolios (Legacy) in your Canvas Account menu.
- Select your portfolio.
- Click Download the contents of this ePortfolio as a ZIP file.
- Save the ZIP file to a secure location.

If you use Folio (Legacy):
- Open Folio (Legacy) in your Canvas Account menu.
- Download and save any important portfolio artifacts, files, and evidence you want to keep.
- Content is not automatically transferred to Canvas Portfolio; it must be added manually.

Canvas Portfolio provides a modern, flexible way for students to collect work, reflect on learning, and showcase achievements. Canvas Portfolio is a fully integrated portfolio tool designed to support both learner-driven showcases and institution- or instructor-guided assessment portfolios.
Canvas Portfolio supports two distinct portfolio experiences:
- Showcase Portfolios: Student‑initiated portfolios enable learners to showcase their growth across multiple learning experiences.
- Evaluation Portfolios: Instructor-assigned portfolios define the required evidence from one or more courses for students to curate and present to support programmatic assessment across those courses.
Artifacts added to a portfolio may include:
- Canvas submissions
- Media and uploads
- Written reflections and narratives
- Work from academic, co‑curricular, or personal projects
