Request a Course Site
All course sites are created and maintained by the Office of Information Technology (OIT).
Undergraduate and Graduate Courses:
- Canvas Provisioning is the automated creation and management of courses, sections, users, and enrollments in Canvas. These are called Live Course Sites and are updated daily.
Non-Credit Courses:
- ANCOR is a registration system used at Rutgers ensure compliance with the university’s policies for noncredit student records and business practices. The ANCOR integration in Canvas allows programs to create canvas course sites from ANCOR and have enrollments synced in real time. Non-Academic Courses:
- Use of Canvas for any non-credit or non-academic purposes will start with requesting a blank Sandbox Course Site. The maintainer will be responsible for adding users and controlling the access dates.
Types of Course Sites used in Canvas
Live Course Sites
Live Course Sites are linked to the Rutgers student information systems. The course roster updates daily. Supported systems are REGIS, BANNER, and ANCOR.
Sandbox Course Sites
Sandbox Course Sites or ‘templates’ are not connected to a roster. These sites are used for developing content, testing, or archiving.
