Course Requests and Enrollments

This page contains information about how courses and rosters work in Canvas.

 

Live Course Sites

Live Course Sites are the official worksites for a particular academic course and are linked to the Rutgers Student Information Systems to automatically populate its roster. Find more information on the Live Course Sites.

Course Sites

Courses properly coded for Canvas in the REGIS and BANNER scheduling system are created automatically for the assigned instructor.

Enrollments

Rosters for Live Course Sites are synced daily with the student information systems.

Missing Roster: If your Live Course Site does not have any students, it may not be linked to the section properly. Please email the Canvas help desk at help@canvas.rutgers.edu with your Site URL and section’s 5 digit Reg Index / CRN.

Sandbox Course Sites

Sandbox Course Sites (often referred to as a ‘templates’) are not connected to a roster. These sites can be used for practice, testing, or archiving content.

Course Sites

Sandbox Course Sites in Canvas are not associated with credit course sections or academic terms and need to be requested.

Enrollments

There are no attached roster for Sandbox Course Sites. All participants need to be added manually by a Sub-Account Admins, Teachers, and TA’s in the site.


Non-Credit Course Sites

The Application for Noncredit Online Registration (ANCOR) is the registration system used at Rutgers ensure compliance with the university’s policies for noncredit student records and business practices.

The ANCOR integration in Canvas allows programs to create canvas course sites themselves and have enrollments synced in real time. For more information about ANCOR and their Canvas Integration, please visit their website.

If your program is not using ANCOR, please email help@canvas.rutgers.edu for more information.

Enrollments

If your program is not using ANCOR, the rosters will need to managed by the department offering the program.
