Rutgers Canvas is pleased to announce the availability of several Canvas Feature Options. The majority of improvements are made available as part of the Canvas regular release cycle. However, some features may change the workflow for common activities in Canvas during the current term, so they are managed as a Feature Options to be enabled when impact and workflow changes are minimized.
Here is a list of the Feature Options that are available for Rutgers Canvas. Some options you may need to enable in your course settings. See How do I manage feature options for a course?
- Apply Score to Ungraded Assignments allows instructors to apply scores to ungraded artifacts en masse from the assignment group and Total column menus in the Gradebook. (How do I apply scores to ungraded assignments as an Instructor?)
- New Quizzes Migration during Course Import/Copy allows the New Quizzes checkbox option to display as part of the Import Content page. See Canvas Release Notes (2023-08019): Bulk Migration.
- Discussion Checkpoints allows instructors to set multiple due dates or checkpoints for graded discussions to accommodate different stages of the discussion process, such as the initial post and follow-up replies. (How do I create a graded discussion?). This feature option will change how instructors view discussions in SpeedGrader. Instructors must enable it in each course individually. See How do I manage feature options for a course?
- Allow Outcome Extra Credit allows instructors to award more than the maximum possible score on an outcome in a rubric. (How do I use a rubric to grade submissions in SpeedGrader?)
- Anonymous Instructor Annotations allow instructors to create assignments with anonymous instructor annotations in DocViewer-supported submissions. (How do I enable anonymous instructor annotations in student submissions?)
- Preserve Group Set during Assignment or Discussion Copy creates a group set of the same name in the destination course if no matching group set exists when copying a group assignment or discussion topic to another course. (How do I copy an assignment to another course?)
Canvas offers additional feature options that are labeled as feature previews, which means they are in active development. Feature Previews are not enabled in Rutgers Canvas, but course instructors may enable these feature previews on a course-by-course basis. See Canvas Feature Option Summary for details about all options in Canvas.
