Discussion Checkpoints Disabled

On Monday, January 20, 2025, Rutgers Canvas Admins enabled Discussion Checkpoints (Multiple Due Dates for Discussions). This was released as a feature option where instructors could opt-in by editing the settings of individual discussions. Since course editors would make the decision to enable the features, enabling the feature was considered to have low impact on instructors with additional benefits to convey assignment requirements to students. Unfortunately, once the feature option was enabled for Rutgers Canvas, SpeedGrader was affected. The new view displayed the entire discussion instead of the filtered view of the student’s submissions, regardless if Discussion Checkpoints was enabled for that discussion.

Due to feed back from Rutgers instructors, Discussion Checkpoints feature has been turned off for Spring 2025. This feature option will be revisited once improvements have been made to the grading experience.
