As previously announced, users are experiencing issues when accessing PlayPosit content in Rutgers Canvas after the May 10, 2024 upgrade to LTI v1.3. Reported issues include and progress made are listed below:

  • Instructors accessing PlayPosit do not see all their content previously created.
    • Users launched PlayPosit LTI 1.1 with one email address and then changed their default email address in Canvas. When the user launched PlayPosit v1.3, the user’s Canvas account email address did not match an existing account in PlayPosit so a new account was created. Currently, Rutgers Canvas admins ask instructors to complete this form to report your email address(es) so PlayPosit may migrate your content from one account to another.
    • PlayPosit is actively developing a solution for this issue and plan to deploy by August 30, 2024.
  • Failure of grade passback for students who have completed a PlayPosit Bulb.
    • Working with PlayPosit developers, it was determined that the student grade is not reported to Canvas due to a failure to match the PlayPosit content with an item in the Canvas gradebook. PlayPosit is has determined the root cause and will develop additional logic to correct this issue. We do not have an expected timeline for release of this feature.
    • This issue is tied to assignments that have not been accessed by course instructors. To trigger the migration of Canvas assignments from PlayPosit v1.1 to v1.3, course instructors must access all Canvas assignments before students attempt the assignment.
    • A manual work-around has been validated by PlayPosit developers and verified by Rutgers Canvas Admins:
      • A student completes a PlayPosit assignment in Canvas.  The grade does not appear in the Canvas gradebook.
      • The course instructor must access the assignment. This triggers migration of the content to the latest PlayPosit version.
      • The student must access the completed assignment to create the line item (in the latest version of PlayPosit) for grade sync to work properly.
      • The course instructor may manually sync grades to Canvas. The student may also relaunch the assignment and sync grades.
  • Instructors cannot view student interactions for submissions completed before 2 pm on May 10, 2024. 
    • At this time, Rutgers Canvas has not made this a priority.  This issue will be raised with PlayPosit once full functionality has been restored.
