Rutgers Canvas has upgraded LinkedIn Learning to the latest learning tool standards and is currently available for use. With the LinkedIn Learning integration, Canvas instructors provide students with seamless access to online video courses taught by business and technology industry experts. This latest integration has some differences:
- Grade Passback: Canvas will record completion of the content when the student watches the LinkedIn Learning content assigned in its entirety. Previously, partial grades were recorded in the Canvas gradebook as a proportion of the video watched.
- Elevated Permissions: In order to create Learning Paths in LinkedIn Learning, Canvas instructors must contact their Canvas HelpDesk. Using the integration to automatically receive elevated permissions is not a feature of LinkedIn Learning LTI v.1.3.
- Placements: LinkedIn Learning content cannot be added to Canvas Modules as an external tool. LinkedIn Learning content may be added as an external app Canvas assignment or selecting content from an external app in the Rich Content Editor on a Canvas Page
The existing integration, labelled LinkedIn Learning (deprecated), will be removed on December 22, 2023. Course instructors may continue to use the existing integration and paired content for Fall 2023 courses. In preparation for Winter 2024, Spring 2024, and academic year terms, please review your Canvas courses and edit your Canvas content to use the newest integration. Once the integration has been removed, your Canvas content will no longer load LinkedIn Learning content. Any course grades in the Canvas gradebook will remain. Please review these resources on how to add LinkedIn Learning content to your Canvas course:
