Feature Release: Hypothesis Upgraded to Latest Standard

Hypothesis

Rutgers Canvas is pleased to announce the upgrade of Hypothesis, a collaborative annotation app, has been upgraded to the latest learning tool standards and is currently available for use. The existing integration, Hypothesis 1.1, has been removed from Canvas; your existing Hypothesis external tool assignments should launch without issue.

Hypothesis assignments continue to support sections.   With section support, Hypothesis now ensures that student annotations are shared with members in the same section. Instructors and TAs will participate in annotations separately. This is to ensure students are not overwhelmed with many annotations.

Hypothesis now supports group assignments in Canvas. Course instructors may use existing Canvas Groups to create a Hypothesis external tool assignment. This allows you to create small reading groups using Canvas’ built-in Groups functionality. Please see these support articles for more information.
