How to Transfer Zoom Recordings into My Kaltura Media


Cloud recordings are preserved for 180 days or until policies are changed. It is recommended that you download your course recordings and upload them into Kaltura, which has unlimited storage.

Download Zoom Cloud Recording From Zoom Through Canvas

  1. From the course menu, choose Zoom.
  2. Click Cloud Recordings
  3. Click on the meeting name in the Topic column.

  4. Zoom Cloud Recordings include the Recording, which includes the video and audio of the Zoom meeting, or just the Audio only. Click Download for the version you wish to transfer.
  5. Click download (A). The recording's passcode will be copied to your clipboard (B). A new web browser tab (C) will open to Rutgers.zoom.us. In the Passcode field, paste the passcode copied to your clipboard, then click Watch Recording. This will download the file to your computer.

Upload Zoom Cloud Recording to My Kaltura Media

  1. In Canvas, click on My Kaltura Media to access your Kaltura content.
  2. In the top right, click Add New, from the drop-down, pick Media Upload.

  3. Upload your Zoom cloud recording file using the Choose a file to upload or Drag & Drop option.
  4. Once a file has been uploaded, you will see a status bar showing the file upload's progress. Also, you will have the following options.
  5. Click Save to keep any options that have been updated.
    • Name the video
    • Add a Description
    • Tags
    • Publishing Schedule
    • Add Collaborator
    • Publishing Status

  6. Depending on the size of the uploaded file, it might take Kaltura up to 24 hours to finish processing the file.
